    Default Suzuki fuel pump?

I have a 2008 Suzuki 60 hp 4-stroke. I run it around 5200 RPM, not wide open but not far from it. I've had a problem for about 6 months where after about 5 mins running, it will bog down, it was dropping 500 RPM but it would pick back up but I couldn't get anything more out of it. After it has run when I idle to lets say check for a spot to fish it idles rough and usually cuts off and hard to start. After it has been cut off to fish, it idles fine. Plus it has used some oil during this and there is a fuel/oil type stain at the motor while I'm on the water. If I run around 4800 RPM it won't do this. I have done the following:

changed low and high pressure fuel filters
cleaned VST needle valve, screen on high pressure fuel pump
    changed fuel lines
    cleaned fuel injectors

I really don't think it is anything internal like valves but is it possible the low pressure fuel pump is the problem, either the diaphram is going bad or it's just breaking down?

    Thanks!!

You can check that pump by removing it an put a hose on the outlet side into a can and push the plunger. When they go bad the rubber breaks and will leak fuel into crankcase.

Would removing the pump from the block leaving the hoses attatched and squeeze the primer bulb work? I noticed gas was coming out the plunger doing this.

What about remove the pump, leave the inlet hose attatched, put a small hose with a plug on the outlet side and push the plunger?

Have you checked oil for fuel smell? Maybe drain and check for fuel. A pump draining fuel into case will wash the pistons down and cause galling of cylinder or worse. You would use oil also, as the oil will seep past the rings from being too thin. Check the oil for fuel soon if you haven't already.

Check your fuel cap as my tracker 175 60 hp Merc has went through two fuel pumps, cleaning the vst as well as new lines and filters .While in Florids this past April (replaced first pump last sept) my tracker started acting up again and long story short cap is bad ($49) sucked tank into a vacuum and starched or tore pump membrane. Even tried cap after cleaning under screw and it shut my mower down twice as well so its in the trash. About $350 and a lot of time lost.

That would work too. Gas should not be leaking from plunger. Change pump.

Changed fuel pump and still have the problem. I'll try the fuel cap downtime suggested.

Loosen the cap and go for a run and see what it does. Be careful when you get off plane so no water gets around the cap or have someone tighten it before the wake comes in around the boat or just idle down slowly as to not create much of a wake.

I checked the fuel cap and still having the problem. Is it possible the high pressure pump is going bad or maybe the fuel pressure regulator going bad?
