1992 25 hp Evinrude
I have a new to me 1992 25 HP Evinrude I noticed a red lever under the engine cowling not sure what this is and where it should be pointing

That is your fuel primer choke it is what you hear opening and shutting when you push the electric choke on your starting controls. I don't really know which way the should point but it is there in case you need to crank the motor manually. So if the choke is working OK don't move it.

Just when and looked at my 1991 Johnson 25hp which Johnson and evinrude are the same company pretty well the same motors now and it is pointed straight toward the back of motor. Hope this will be some help to you.
