    Default Karavan trailer

Morning folks, I have a 2016 Karavan trailer with the sure lube hubs that is spewing grease onto the outside of the of the port side wheel. I thought perhaps the rubber zerk cover had a microscopic defect in it so replaced that with same results. This is a trailer with less then 1000 miles on it as I was rear ended up in Minneapolis by a texter last year. Its 4 hours over to Butte Ne where the closest dealer is , so I was hoping to fix it on my own..Thanks

I see I can order all new parts from Karavan pretty cheap. I think it can be taken apart rather easily.Putting it back together is a whole different story. Never tried working on bearings. Long as I take notes or photos I should be ok?

First thing i would do is contact karavan, explain the problem and ask their advice. That hub should be under warranty and you don't want to do something that might cause you to void your warranty. They should have someone that you could use for warranty repair in your area not just a dealer for their trailers. If that don't work, figure out who made the hub and contact them. That's their part and should have some place you could take it. Just buying and replacing parts dosnt solve anything until you find what is causing the problem.. Jack it up and check that wheel to see if the bearings are loose. Should have just slight movement in wheel.

Jacked it up when I first noticed the problem and there might be 1/8 inch of play at the most. I cant figure out how the grease could get out of there for the life of me.Karavan website says bearing are only warrantied for 90 days.I believe Dexter makes the hub. Ill contact Karavan and see what they have to say and report back in case this happens to anyone else. This is my 3rd Karavan boat trailer and never had an issue. Always like the galvanized .not for looks but because they dont rust away.As always I appreciate the help.

Think I would get some pictures good as you can and contact Dexter. Puzzles me as to how you could have leakage from that hub.

Talked to a real nice fellow up at Karavan service but he had never heard of my problem. Long story short he is sending me seals etc. free of charge to fix it. After watching some you tubes as crappiemax suggested I think that even I can handle it.lol
    Thanks for the help.

Hello : Is it both axles or just one ? Check out the videos on youtube on servicing sure lube hubs. Make sure after the clean grease comes out to clean out the grease that overflowed out the front.Good Luck. O -R

Thanks Ron, Its a single axle 3000lb bunk trailer and its just the port side wheel with the problem. I need to learn how to service this stuff anyway. Ill get to the bottom of it.
