This is a work boat. Was told it ran rough on one trip. Next trip it wouldn't start.
I've removed the carb, disassembled, sprayed with carb cleaner. Had to start somewhere, this carb has not been apart in over ten years.
    Three questions
    1. When depressed, is fuel supposed to come out of the hole on the side of the prime start?

I'm not thinking so, I took the prime start apart, does not look good.
    2. I made a boo boo. Did not pay attention to how the float was oriented.

    3. From the first pic, what model or year exactly is this engine? I've searched and cannot figure it out. Will need to know when parts are ordered.

    Thanks

It is a 1995 model. Fuel should not come out that weep hole on the primer. The 2nd pic of the carb appears to have the float in right. However something just doesn't look right about the carb. Could it have come off an older motor?

I have no clue. Marks on all of the bolt heads tell me it's been off before. Their all rounded. This boat and engine have been assigned to 4 different departments, since it was purchased.

Check compression before buying a carb kit. 95 is when the mercosil blocks began showing up.

Will do, thanks. I looked up mercosil blocks. Seems it's a love/hate relationship?

No love, just hate. Dependability is moderate to low. The chrome bore and nikasil blocks are much much more dependable. It is possible that you have one of those. If it's mercosil, it will have the word mercosil cast into the block. It will be even with the top spark plug, on the stb. side of the block. If that's the case, pay attention to the compression of #2 cyl. If compression is good, you may only need to replace the enrichener diaphragm to be back in business.

Just looked at it, didn't see "mercosil" anywhere. I'll bring compression gauge in Monday, check that.
    Thank you
