could be your fuel line and bulb !!!! I would check that first !!!!
Here is what i have.....
Yamaha 30hsp tiller oil injected
Went out today, and motor starts fine as it usually does. I have zero problems from this motor.
Headed back to ramp crossing lake, throttle up....runs fine for little while then starts bogging down....i quickly sqeeze priming bulb and throttles up then dies......i squeeze theottle bulb and starts fine, throttle up and runs WO no problem but then starts bogging down again after few minutes WO throttle.......
Im not mechanic but seems as tank ventilation not working well or inside fuel system jacked.....been several years since carbs worked on...boat kept inside shop at all times......
Any info much appreciated

if you have to keep squeezing the fuel bulb on the fuel line you have a leak some wheres could be the bulb or the hose or one of the fittings just replace it its cheap enough.
I see this almost every day. also check and make sure your vent is open on the tank for it to draw fuel.

That is also the symptom of a bad fuel pump.
Hey,
Barnacle Bill is dead on.I have 2000 VMAX 150 that had similar problems.Tried several things --stayed about the same.Went reading several boating forums and found someone describing my symptoms to a T.My 150 has 2 fuel pumps and one of the 2 had a tear in the fuel pump diaphragm.Went online (marine parts plus -only one supplier of many)and found it was actually about the same money to buy complete pumps as to buy just the diaphragms.Ordered pumps and a couple fuel filters, put them in and she runs like a top again and since.....If you remove the fuel pumps and inspect the diaphragms you can probably see a tear.....Good luck ..... PM or reply to thread with any questions

Thanks for the good info but this is a 1997 model 30hp tiller steer, has carbs. Will keep this thread posted for updates...i looked at fuel line, looked okay but took to shop cause anything more than that im not gonna be able to do it.
My issue was sort of like that. Could not get any speed but it started and ran fine. Did the sea foam in the yard and next day wot at the lake didn't seem to help so did the tune up, carbs and all. Solution was changed fuel line and was amazed at the difference. The old line was so clogged, hardly any fuel could get thru. Fuel line replacement was $60 so just bought fuel line for $1 a foot and bought new ends for line for 1/5th the cost at the local auto parts store. Owned evinrude/Johnson all my life with 1 mercury. Yamaha is the BEST I have ever had!
I didnt know had fuel pumps since had carbs....i learned something. ....i will change fuel line and bulb. I know it has good gas as i just filled tank ethanol free with seafoam added every time.
