    Default Merc xr4

Just bought boat with 150 xr4, after first starting and running ( runs good) if I fish 30 min or so I have to pump the primer bulb again to start also have to open throttle to start all the time. Bulb is a merc bulb and appears to be in good shape. Is this a bulb problem or fuel pump? Does not seem to miss when running.
    thanks for the help

My advice to anyone having starting/running problems is new plugs and fresh gas. If you are losing your pressure check the entire hose, from tank to fuel pump. Look for checking (age cracks) and all connections. Also check the gasket in the fuel tank cap. That should be enough to get you started in finding your problem.

What year is the xr4? check fuel lines for cracks( if old replace as newer gas is hard on rubber lines). loose clamps and I would rebuild fuel pump. You don't want to fun any motor lean on fuel. I rebuild my 2004 150efi water n fuel pump every two years. good luck, downtime

old fuel hoses can not hold up to the ethanol. The insides of the line will come apart and stop up the fuel system. Plus it never hurts to have new fuel lines and a good fresh bulb.
