I went to a four blade and gained a much better hole shot but lost 1-2 mph. Now I have a 2001 Taho ski/fish with a 2004 Merc 150efi and have found this is best for my setup.
I would guess it's better to have a 4 bladed prop than a 3 bladed prop? Right? But what does it do, is it more speed or does it help plan faster? I don't know, I'm just curious. I have a 90 evinrude and wondering if it's worth changing. Thanks

May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !
Better hole shot

In some cases, and this depends mainly on the hull. Some get more and quicker lift out of the hole. Some will help cure proposing problems. Some will hold on plane at a little slower speed. Some will relieve some of the torque steer. Some don't see anything put a drop in power because it bites the water so good. I would not change unless I was trying to solve a problem. In most cases not worth the cost.
