Default How to remove trim tab? no bolt?

Trying to figure out how to remove the trim tab or is it called a torque tab? Its the upper fin thing above the prop
on my 89 Mercury 60hp to install a Stingray Hydrofoil. There is no nut to remove just a small hole. Any help appreciated.

Probably a Allen screw that locks it in place. If you have a set try different sizes and see if you can get one to engage. Sliderman can tell you for sure though. I have never seen that set up. Why are you having to remove that? Everyone I have ever installed just fit around the torque tab.

That stays...the fin should go on top,the bolt head may end up on it but that's okay. Unless they have changed something on them.

Look at the top side...There should be a plastic plug that you can pry out....its painted to match the motor....remove it recessed deep in the hole is a nut. I have put stabilizers on before and it never interfered at all with the trim tab though. You need your trim tab to control your steering torque.

If you run without the trim tab you may experience pulling one way or the other. There should be a bolt on top that holds that on.

It a Stringray Starfire its all one piece no drill. It also has a option to drill. I thought I would try it out using no drill option to see if It works out for the boat or not.
