    Default Installed a tachometer '88 Mercury 45hp 50 Classic?

What is idle speed and voltage tolerances? I get 7.3 volts at sensor,15.9 across batt/gnd and idles at 1100rpm.

    Thanks in advance

What sensor are you referring to with the 7volts?

Idle speed in gear (in the water) should be about 750-800rpm. On the hose and in neutral may be as high as 1100. 15.9vdc is a lot of voltage.
    I'd rather be fishing.

Sorry, The sensor I was referring to is the sender connection on the tachometer;as for high voltage need to see what's causing high reading. I was running the motor on the hose;; so I will probably get to the river in a couple of day's and check idle thru wot.
