    Default Yamaha 40 / Xpress HD16DB prop pitch ???

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on my next prop. I have a 2015 Xpress HD16DB (16' tiller) with a 2015 Yamaha 40hp 4-stroke. It came with a 11-3/8"x12 but I whacked some rocks before I could check the RPM. So I bought a 11.6"x13. Max WOT RPM is 4750 @ 28 mph. I'll be upgrading to stainless as the waters I travel are riddled with stumps. The manual says 5000-6000 rpm @ WOT. I'm looking to be around 5500 @ WOT with me, a buddy, and our gear. Thanks to anyone who can give me some direction!

I have a 17 ft Wareagle stick steer with a 50 yammaha 4 stroke on it. I run the stainless stelleto in 13. Motor up one bolt hole. It turns right at 6000 at 30 mph with me 250, 3 batteries 10 gal of gas and full live well. I would start with the 12 on your setup. Try to find a prop shop or dealer who might have loaner props you could try. Just remember you need to run a stainless normally one bolt hole higher than aluminum because they bite so much better.

Thanks for the tip on the stainless vs aluminum! I'll remember that. I contacted PowerTech and I'm waiting to hear back.

Powertech pointed me to a 10" pitch. So I located the closest dealer and called Acadiana propeller. The owner said my boat should easily turn a 12. He had a barley used REB3 12 pitch, so I bought it. Ran it this morning, what a difference! Planes in about 4 seconds, max speed was 33.3, and RPM with just me and no gear was 5930ish. By the time I add a buddy and some gear it should be perfect. Handles much better as well. Thanks again Cray for the pointer.
