Default extra HP out of a 50hp?

Have searched other forums, so far all I'm finding is for efi engines. Some say take out the restrictor plate.
Engine in question: Is a Yamaha f50tlrc.
I currently have all 4 carbs off, to clean them. So if its carb related, now would be the perfect time.
As a side note I did buy a carbtune pro, to sinc the carbs, once I get it back together. Any tips on the carb disassembly, cleaning, re assembly GREATLY appreciated! ! !

If you use regular carb cleaner make sure all plastic or synthetic parts are removed before soaking the parts. Remove all jets and plugs. Before reassembling blow every port, holes and parts with compressed air. It wouldn't hurt to replace all the fuel lines too. When everything is back together probably the most important thing you should do is a Link & Sync. These steps should be done exactly as stated in your manual. As far as boosting HP it is not as simple as some people think. Especially on a 2 cycle motor. With very few exceptions it is cheaper just to buy a bigger motor.

Is there a certain area you are wanting to improve.......holeshot? top speed?

Barnacle bill: I was wondering if it was to good to be true.
Mid Carolina: both hole shot & top end would be nice.
Upgrading engine is not an option . too much $, and my home lake has a 50hp limit.
Before I lost my handheld GPS, top speed was 33mph. That was before I extended the deck. Once I get the carbs back on, I'll check speed again. Boat is a g3 1756 dlx.

I agree with Bill. Yes, it is possible to upgrade some horsepower on this engine however, the cost might outweight buying a new one. In short, your carb project might be what you are looking for in the sense of "boosting performance" however, you might not gain much overall horsepower. There are a few things you can do. Some might be options, and some might not. FYI, I used to wrench race dirtbikes (and coach racing) as well as race snow machines. Most of the stuff equates the same.

First, if you don't have one, you may want to look at buying a hydrofoil stabilizer. I swear by one and have put on on every boat I've owned. I just sold a boat with an F40 yamaha. Prior to install, top speed was 28 mph (GPS) and the hole shots sucked. After install, I could get on plane with two people in the boat faster than most 60 and 90 HP boats and the top speed was 33 mph (yes, almost 5 more MPH). I recommend the Doil Fin however you will be required to put hole in your plates. There are other styles but in my opinion, they don't operate as good, and in some cases come off.

Next, 10 lbs is the equivilant to 1 hp. Shaving weight were you can can boost performance. Obviously, your not going to take out needed stuff, but carrying an anchore you don't need or use might be worth jetisoning. In race sleds, the first thing done is remove the stock pipes and Can. This oviously increases air flow and HP, but also the reduction in weight over aftermarket gains you even more down the track.

If you are still considering an upgrade: Like I said, carb work might increase some performance...... Most engine manufacturors make several different engines with the same engine block. Your F50 might be the same block as an F40 and F60. It would be possible to boar the heads and change the pistons (or purchase the F60 heads and pistons). You would also need to change out your carbs to the F60 carbs (or rebuild to F60 specs if possible). Like Bill said, you can upgrade, but what do you want to spend to do it?

I would continue on with your carbs (upgrading some performance) and look for other options (like the stabilizer). Might also try chaining the oil you use (2 stroke oil) and fuel octane. I hope that muddies the water some for you
