    Default Anyone ever plug livewell drain from OUTSIDE THE BOAT??????


    Bought a 1993 Aluminum Bass Tracker Pro 160.

    Right to the point. Livewell drain leaks, and I have decided to make this a storage area instead of a livewell. Really do not want to got through hassle of replacing hoses and who knows what else.




    To do this, I must plug off the livewell drain OUTSIDE of the boat!!

    This drain is located below the waterline and is on the side of the boat.



    Has anyone any ideas on how I can do this?? Please, don't tell me to put a plug in the livewell itself, as this will not prevent the leak I have.

    Get you one of the drain plugs with the brass T screw for expanding the rubber plug. Remove T screw and replace with stainless Philips screw. Install and screw it in tight. Maybe put a coat of good silicone on before installing.

    I had thought about the expandable drain plug, really like YOUR IDEA about exchanging the T screw with a SS Philips. Hopefully this is a size I can easily find.

    If it's going to be a permanent change ... why not caulk the hole with some silicone sealant ??

    I took a cap from a water bottle put some shoegue on the flat side and stuck it of drain hole and used a small piece of duc tape to hold it in place till it dried, remove when winter is coming and drain just in case some water got in , this is what I did to keep livewell dry for storage.

    Mine are on the transom, plug with silicone works pretty good and can be removed without too much hassle if you decide to fix it latter on.

    Wood dowel in the hole. Sealed with 3m 5200 if you want a permanent plug.
