Gas splurting back - vent problem?
I have a permanent 15 gallon gas tank in my boat. You put the gas in on the deck. I am not sure where the vent is on my boat. I just got it several weeks ago and am just now needing to fill er up. I pumped maybe 60 cents worth of gas before it splashed back at me. If I look into the hole where the gas goes in, and I push down on the gas tank, I can see gas coming up. Its gotta be a vent issue but I dont see a vent anywhere. Any suggestions?

I have seen many built in tanks that have the fill hose routed in such a way as to require a slow fill at the pump. It's not a venting issue but a flow issue.
I'd rather be fishing.

I have to pump it in slowly on my 98 Nitro 640LX. Don't think it's a vent problem just the way the line is routed as sliderman says.

my G3 176 takes gas reallly slow, If i turn the hose 180 degrees after i put it in it helps. I also have to put the nozzle as far as it will go. If it coming back out the vent hole I will some times just block it shut with a paper towel and it helps that way too.

I HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH A 1989 CAJUN FISH AND SKI I HAD A FEW YEARS AGO SAME PROBLEM AND THE FILL AND VENT WERE ON THE SIDE OF THE BOAT CRAZY PLACE TO PUT A FILL PORT AND VENT I THOUGHT sorry for the caps just noticed it .
but if I filled the tank it wouldsplash out on a right hand turn while on the trailer and if the tank was full I had to park it on a block or the fuel would push out the vent I trailer my boat never leave it in the water crazy thing .
but after some digging around as this was my first boat I found that they had like 6 ft of vent line from the tank to opening in vent which only required like 18 inches still can't figure that one out so I shortened it and actually moved the vent to inside the boat but along the rail so not to be bothered or anything and it also helped with the heat and right turn problem .
but for the life of me I couldn't figure why they would put the fill cap on the side of the boat along the top rail but but it would have been murder to try to fill it while in the water with out spilling some in the water.
would it be possiable that a bug /wasp may have built a blockage in the vent tube oh sorry I seen where you didn't know for sure of the vent location .
well good luck with the fuel question with as much as the stuff costs it is a pain to see someof it going somewhere other than good use like down the side of the boat or on the ground .
