    Default Trailer Problem's

Bought this boat used last winter with a Bear Trailer under it.2007 Model, first thing I did was pull the hub's off, cleaned and repacked the bearing's,put new rear seal's in them and dust cover's with grommet's.Checked them periodically and noticed I was getting a little water in one hub on one side.Keep adding a little grease to them as I was using it but not to much as to not blow out the rear seal.Did the same thing this year and am still getting water in on that same side. The other side is completely dry. What could be wrong with that one side?Tire's seem to be wearing correctly and I don't see that side wobble as I am going down the road so I don't think the axle is bent on that side.Any suggestion's?

go to NAPA or another parts store and have them look up the dimensions of the seals that you get then look for one with just a little tighter seal surface could be a little wear on the seal surface. mind you I'm just guessing at that also could be a crack in the hub.

If you got the rubber plug on the dust cap to grease it that is probably where its seeping in from when you launch

wilbur, what would cause it to seep in their? Should it be taken off before/after launch?

How much water are you talkin. If you got the axles that have a grease zerk on the end of the spindle, and there is a rubber cap in the dust cap to take off to grease i would just buy a couple new rubber plugs and try that. It could be the one side gets a little hotter than the other. When you launch and it cools off it creates a vacuum. Next time when you get to the ramp feel both hubs for temp.

Mine has the dust cap with the rubber grommet on it so you can remove it to grease. The past 2 spring's I have replaced both the rear seals and the dust caps and grommets.Just getting water in on one hub and it has been on the same side each year.

when you replaced the seals did you notice a small groove where the seal was running ? seals will rub a groove in the axle, if they do the seal will let water in. parts stores sell something called an easy sleeve you put over axle where the seal runs

My wife lets me buy all the rods and reels I can hide.

I run a bead of silicone sealer around the lip of the metal cap, and also the rubber plug too. First I wipe the surfaces down with some lacquer thinner or other good solvent.
