    Default Multi Trip Report

    May 1st

So the place we would normally fish has no water in it..might be able to walk to the fishing spots but not by water. Forced to fish the spoils as it is deeper. Man what a tough time it was getting the crappie this day. Ended up finding a few super sized crappie in the end. Cold wind blew the water out of the Potomac and had us turning mudd to get boats to ramp. Chilled from the day I was glad to get the boat on the trailer and a hot cup of coffee.

This my friends is what a high tide looks like. I show you because Saturday, it didn't exist. Actual high was at 1PM. This was noon. Yesterday, high tide level was over two feet below the peer. At low, it was four foot plus climb up to the deck. (we all cheered as Capt. Mike made onto the dock)

Tony is an experienced spider rig veteran, it was Kevin's first time. I have never seen someone pick up the technique as quickly as Kevin did for having never done it. I did not net or hand land a single fish. He swung each on board. Water temps were still at 5PM, no more than 64 degrees. What bite we did have, died at about the half way point of the tide. The ramp at 6PM was a clown show. Two boats trying to load and failing, two jet skis launching. They let me go first because they said, "you probably back up faster than us". I appreciated their kindness.

The Captain got to catch fish.

That winds up crappie charters for 2021. (thank goodness...)

Today was the day I get back on the bite..I was so sure of it with the warmer nights and water temps in the 60 range. Well it did not disappoint me or my crew.

Using the same formula as the day before was supposed to be the ticket. Not so much as the wind was not kind and water temps once again overnight dropped. This has the coolest April that I can remember. Coolest as in COLD.

We managed a fair catch and had a lot of fun too.
