    Default Crappie/Yellow Perch 12-13-18

--Caught some crappie first this morning, then fished for yellow perch. Didn't have minnows so I used 1" strips of crappie on a 1/16th jig head. Some under bobber and some just casting. First time I ever used crappie strips for bait. Works pretty good.Name: 12-13-18.jpg

Nice Andy! - With a little imagination these could appear to be ice fishing pics...crappie in hole / perch on ice. Broad Creek & Northeast. What about those pickerel, unusual not to see a couple this time of year. Did you ice fish Northeast much years ago? Do you remember when you, me and brother Ron fished Stammers and Ron fell through ice and when you and I turned to look he was already standing on the ice unwet with the hole he made just beside him...still can't believe that one!! Bet it's cold enough to start with Pat's Arster stew or some She crab soup. lol

Stay warm, bud, still better than your Sparrows Point days.

Doug, you bring back some good memories. Doug, we have been doing this fishing for a long time. Yes I did fish North East River on the ice with my fishing buddy John Rebusto. I will see if I have a picture of him. You might remember him. Nice talking with you.Name: John Rebusto & large crappie.jpg

Oh yes, that's where Ron fell in and out, lol!! That lake really gave up some dandies, but if I remember, it was only for a few years. That place usually had a muddy coloration.

Herb at Herb's Tackle Shop in North East told us chemical tanks leaked in the lake and that is what made all them crappie head to the stream.

Wow, interesting... what great memories I have of Herb and Ellie! Even had a not so memorable haircut from their charter guide son, Mike. Should have waited for Herb to have finished his customer's haircut! OR, not distracted him with fish talk between us!
but, you know how that goes, LOL!
