    Default 2 trips mediocre results

Went out on Sunday and again on Tuesday. Water temps in the mid 40's to the upper 40's on Tuesday. Generally speaking the fishing in the Main river has slowed. Caught 35 fish on Sunday in 4 hours and only 15 in the same amount of time on Tuesday. I did catch a monster Perch a small bass and a pickerel on Sunday which I never count on my tally. Tuesday the wind picked up and made it really difficult to control the boat which got frustrating after a few hours.

For some reason the prespawn when fish are starting to spread out is always difficult for me and I never seem to do that good until the pattern levels back out with the males going shallow and the females stacking at the dropoff. It is funny I saw a boat go by with 3 little kids and a father and thought I recognized them. Checked the facebook page of a local sportshop and saw that same group featured saying they had a great day on Sunday and holding a stringer of beautiful fish, lol. My excuse is they were using minnows.

I should add that the river was full of fish, as in stacks of them everywhere. I guess they were shad or herring but my sonar was lighting up on them and they were not biting, believe me I tried. Here is a picture of my perch. It was huge but looks small in this picture.

Yellow Perch, beautiful fish. Used to catch tons in Lake Michigan, Montrose Pier. That was a way long long time ago.

Tear-em-up, Ive seen that Carolina Skiff zip by me every year around this time. Bunch of little kids, all bundled up and having fun. Always sticks out in my mind.

Slab, we get a lot of em mid to late February then I never seem to find them again. I lived on a pond in the Mountains that was infested with them, all small, but you could catch 100 a day.

Not a bad catch. It's good to see things picking up.
