    Default Christmas weekend fishing

I got to fish 3 times over the weekend all short trips but fun . Started thur. afternoon got 1 crappie and 1 23" striper then it started gushing rain and i had to get home . Sat. morning fought the wind for a few then found a good mess of crappie in a spot out of the wind , we fishing old school jig under a bobber around stumps had a nice steady pic of crappie from 8 to 10 inch and some yellow perch and pickeral. Sunday afternoon went in a tidal ditch for white perch where G-duck got some big ones last wed. we found some but they were small , so we moved to an old crappie spot that we haven't hit since last year . Started out slow there wind made it tough then we found a pocket of fish against a bank and dropped anchor . We were fishing old school again jig 3ft under bobber they wanted it sitting still for the most part wind was moving it just enough . There was a mix of real nice 9" bluegills , a few medium yellow perch and a mess of crappie from 11 1/2 "to 13 3/4" .We kept 10 of the gills and 20 of the crappie for a new years fish fry . That was about half of what we caught never got the clicker out to count . It was fast action almost every cast there was a bite during the last hour of light.Real fun fishing old school like that again .Got home sunday nite and my brother and sister in law were over so I fried the ones we kept from sat and made crappie tacos ,they were a hit . water temps were mid 50's we got em shallower water this week 4 to 5 ft near stumps and grass.Name: 012.jpg

Awesome catch! Are you using high vis braid? I saw in another shot some bright line on one of your reels. I just spooled a reel up with suffix hivis and am trying to figure out if i like it or not.

Hmmm, I might have to go to that. Sont really like the feel of braid with light jigs. 6 pound test?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Got my 2016 fish today...picked up 10 pickerel in a Severn Tributary. Eventually I'll get out crappie fishing (I keep saying that)!
