Default 'world record is 4# 8 oz

If someone caught 6 crappie all over 3 #, my hat is off to them. And that lake will be the lake. And that state will be the state.
For that matter if I saw 6 fish on one stringer all over 2# my hat is off to them. How many of you caught a crappie over 3#?

In my lifetime plenty. However, I have had over 60 years practice......

I second the motion on that one. I'll trade you a 3 pounder for a 13" fish all day long........Dem big bones ruff on a fish cutter.

Dang LJ, you beat me to it

I was gonna say they taste the best at 10-11" to me -
when the showin' off's done and the eatin starts, I'd trade
two pounders for .9's all day long.

As a kid growing up here in Alabama, We used to throw back what i keep now. any thing under 12" we cosidered it small. Ive caught many 3 & 3 1/2# crappie on one trip. But like CP I've had almost 50 years at it. As far as which state has most largest crappie. I'd have to say Alabama & Mississippi.

Yep, them's even better..............But we can't dream of eatin' fishes that little here with the 12" rule. Sure does hurt to get in them 10" -12" fish hot-n-heavy, and hafta chunk'em back. Fine eatin'

    Default Claim

I'll stick with good ole Mississippi, it holds the world record crappie, and I've caught several crappie over 3 pounds, and my biggest is 3 3/4 pound.
I have a three crappie wall mount that is 2- 3 1/2's and the 3 3/4 pound, and would sell for the right price.
They can be seen on Ms. Big Crappie board on page 9 or 10 I think. Bill Dance say's there will be another world record crappie coming from from Ms. in the future.

You all can worry about the weight and I will worry about being over count. :p 15 one pounders eat lots better than any five 3 pounders.
