    Default Rod Repair

    Guys,

I have an BPS bass pole that I am going to be using this spring chasing some "toothy" critters on a trip up north, and need to have a couple of "eye" replaced. Anyone know of someone around St. Louis that does this, or should I entertain doing it myself, but it looks as though the parts to do it right are going to end up running me some $30 or more even.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I have no idea if this guy does this thing or not. I do know he is a rodbuilder. Your local tackle/bait shops might be a good place to ask too.

hey Mike there,s a little shop in Cape Gir. that I think could help with that, but I"m not sure the name of it. It's in the old shopping center.
If it will hold cornmeal it's big enough for me !!!!!!!!!

I think if it was going to cost me $30 plus labor Id scrap the rod. You are probably better off trying to have it replaced by BPS for free or putting the money toward a shimano rod. Ive had BPS rods and they are heavy duty, but not light weight or super sensitive rods. The whole balancer thing is a huge load, You will never make a marginal rod better by making it heavier. Heavy leads to fatigue and less sensitivity. I also hate the hump grips.

For a BPS brand rod either do it yourself or buy a new one.

Super Gooser - Nice call on Foutz's, I forgot about them! Called over there and they can fix it for 10 bucks! Saves me the time and hassle.

Mike; I would have offered my services, good to see you have a local shop to repair rods. I've always been puzzled why BPS offers reel repair but not rods? It's customer traffic for them when you drop off/ pickup the equipment.

I agree, it seems like they would have someone there to work on them.

I'm thinking BPS might be a lot more interested in selling new rods than fixing old ones...What do you think?
