    Default quick hello

Just wanted to shout a quick hello. I am bluegill fisher who started to catch these funny looking fish on my flyrod last summer. Found out they were called white crappie, and might even be good to eat, if they were bigger than 6"!
This year I am going after the deeper(and bigger) crappie.
I've already learned a ton of stuff from reading these forums and I've picked up a few ideas about how to outfit my old jon boat.
I really enjoyed reading anchorpullers boat project. You go girl!
I will post pictures of my rig as I make improvements.
    Mary

    Welcome aboard, Mary!

You might also enjoy reading Rick Zieger's weekly "Panfish" column over at FAOL:

He fishes a lot of smaller waters for gills and crappie.

    Welcome from SC!
Crappie are certainly some of the best eating freshwater fish, and they get big enough to get good sized boneless fillets off of them.

Welcome Bluegilll: You might ought to ease into this crappie thing real easy. You'll get addicted to it too quick and "loose" your fly rod if you're not careful. Some of my best thinkin comes when I'm dappin' for slabs. Keep us up to speed on your new "addiction". heehee
