I agree, key word rating, if your brand lists the actual rod weight thats a big plus. Are any of you familiar with Kistler brand rods? they tout their Helium rods as the lightest on the market.......and to try to justify the$399.00 price tag

I have a Kistler, but it's a cheap one -- $130! :D It's a nice rod, and the Kistlers all have a very unique handle (no foregrip.)

I know they're very popular with the bass guys.

Tom, 2 days ago I was using 2 poles that started out weighing in the oz's, but by the end of the day, each weighed as much as a 150lb barbell set!! I think it's a mis-manufacturing design that causes them to soak up water or pollen from the air!

I can't remember the model name but Orvis makes some really nice, light-weight flyrods. Zero Gravity maybe? But you really can't appreciate one until you've cast it. Or at least gone to the Orvis shop and fondled one. I personally don't have one because most of my money goes to Oklahoma State University, but if I could afford one I would definitely own one; Made in USA, Lifetime Warranty, etc...

You could probably go to the pawn shop and find a decent scale. :D:D

All the top-of-the-line fly rods are nice, light ... and expensive. :D

Orvis' new Helios is sweet. At $775, it should be!

Tom just weighted one of my 12ft IM-7 rods and its was 4.2 ozs.
Pinnacle Vertex IM7VGTCR12 And that is on Certifed scales. just put a 1/8 oz jig with a sickle hook them and it shows 0.07 for it. So not sure.
