your spider rig set up

Guys...im going to install a spider rig kit in my jon boat. We cannot legally spider rig in my state but I travel south alot and would like to be able to do it. I emailed Driftmaster and they asked me if I want 10" or 18" poles. I would think 10" but I dont know. Or is there a better option than driftmaster? Also, Im looking at the deck of my boat and while one side opposite the trolling motor is open to mount...it appears the other side would be in the way of the trolling motor when its pulled up and in its resting position. Im curious to maybe hear or see pictures of your spider rig set up.

post a photo of the front of your boat made from the inside and looking toward the bow and im sure youll get plenty of good suggestions.

In my opinion, if your front deck is flat an the holders will be mounted at the same level as the seat post is then go with the 18" risers. If you are going to mount the holders on a 6"+ raised portion of the deck that is higher than the seat pedestal mount then go with the 10" risers.

I have 18" risers and I would rather have 10" given the choice because of the manner in which my boat is configured.

I would be willing to help in anyway I could if you wanted to look at my holders. A picture of the area you would like them located would be great and you would get lots of opinions.

My boat is not a jon boat but it does have the flat front deck like one. I made these from 6" pvc pipe and a piece of 1" c channel.

Taking a few pics of the front of you boat like everyone is saying is probably a good idea. There are lots of ways to set up for the spider rig method, and if we had a few pics we could probably get you started in the right direction.

Maybe you should come on down to reelfoot and see how we do it down here!

What's wrong with spider riggin in IL? If you fish with someone up front, you two can put out 6 total poles, which is less than I like to fish with, but plenty if you are catching fish. The only thing you need to watch out for is lake specific regs. limiting the total number of poles per person.

I spider rig with my buddy and my step-son up front with eight poles out all the time in IL and haven't ever had anyone say anything to me.

I've got 5 of his rigs on 18" risers. (One T-bar with 4 holders front and center for spider rigging and 4 T-bars with 2 holders each on either side and at the rear corners for still fishing) VERY sturdy and leaves only a flat plate on the deck when removed. Yeah, I know a picture is worth way more than all these words but I haven't mastered the science of posting pics.
