I have 6 B&M poles never had a problem with any of them. just got 2 new wally rods, haven't had a chance to use them yet.
I've held WM rods and BnM rods (10-12ft'rs) and the WM's do seem to be a little more "end heavy" (tip end, that is). Don't know if it's a bigger blank, more guides, or exactly what the reason is ... but, if it ain't balanced out correctly, it is going to wear on your wrists ... especially if you "hold" your pole in hand.
In your case, Tom ... I don't know if I'd go with the BnM' long poles, either. Them big slab fishes you catch might bust 'em up too often ;)
Maybe you just need to get you a single, good 7-8ft'r ... and ease up a little closer to your honey holes :p (something like a Sam Heaton rod). If you just "hafta have" a long pole ... take a look at the Duckworth FnF rods (Tenn handle version, not the 8ft'r with balance kit). You can find either/both of these on the BnM site (and click on this site's Sponsor banner for BnM, and support this site with your purchase). Either that, or change your KY Rig setup for a slip float setup, and leave your rod lying in the boat (rather than holding it all the time)
... luck2ya ... cp
I have and use both. I use B&M BGJP 14 for slow trolling with anything under 3/4 ounce. The WM are to stiff for me on the light stuff. I use the WM for crankbaits and other heavy duty trolling.
Here is some data for weight vs deflection I took using three different rods that I posted over on the VA board. The B-n-M Pro Staff rods and the Wally Marshall Titeline Special rods are definitely not the same. The B-n-M rods compare closer to the WM Signature Series.

I have a Grizzly Jig catalog and it was suggested I check it for tips to fit WM rods. They are on page 40 of the 2008 catalog. I have three spare but sections I could never bring myself to throw away when the tips broke in a place where it was not practicle to repair them. I might just have to order some tip sections and see how they work.
