Looks like you had it made in the shade. Tough to cast float fishing that deep but you made it work. Proof is in the pics.
Them there last week ,fall transitioning crappie got reintroduced to that there Texas heat wave again and .....
JUST LIKE THAT >>>> right back to the summer program they went ....
them there fish that were just wanting to be ketched are now NOT wanting to be ketched ....
the 3 spots I hit the last few days all parallelled each other on the bite scenario ...
the bite went to so so EXTRA soft yet again and so much so, you often never know a fish is even on the jig till you go to move it !
But as you might have figured out , it bothers me not much how they want to bite , and I don't have to watch it on a big screen tv , I just watch my float , just like them fellas staring at them big screens .....
wore a camo crappie.com shirt so I wouldn't scare them off on my approach since we all know my rod ain't long enough to ketch big crappie all stealthy and sneaky like ....
lunch break went well once I figured out them fish went down to China and were just pecking like baby bream ....
Ran my jig about 7 foot deep under a pinch on pencil float from Walmart ....
with a solid body tube from Walmart
and a crappie nibble from Walmart
left the Walmart bag in the back seat where it belongs .....
used some other jigs too and had a good time , 28 came to hand and only 1 was the wrong kinda fishee ...
such is a nice Monday lunch break escape from work ya know .
lost several larger fish ,mostly due to the depth of my float set up and difficulty getting a solid hookset with that type of a set up ....hence the Stiff Cherrywood 7 footer ....
no worries here , just good times hammering crappie was me ....
and KABOOM is the word
p.s. keep in mind this about that ,individual results may vary greatly , just saying

Ketchn thanked you for this post
casting is ok once you master it , the hook sets are what's tough bro , I typically have a good amount of line out there off the rod tip and that there 90 degree angle at the float makes for a serious situation on hook setting , if you watched how hard I set the hook on a bite you would swear I was just playing around , you will often here the air splitting on my hook sets and see my feet leave the ground ....no joke bro

Those crappie never seen it coming..... KABOOM!!!
Feet leave ground, line splits the air like the crack of a whip, and that crappie sees two of everything for the rest of it's days, lol. Seen them hooksets a time or two on some old videos...LOL.
