As for Black Crappie which is what we catch most in our Coastal Rivers your colors, profiles, size overall, smells (I still inject the insides of my tubes), make the difference in catching numbers of big Blacks. The little stuff hits most anything if competing with other little stuff wadded together.
Crappie in my area mostly White Crappie . Seldom see schools . Big ones seem to roam in the open more . Presentation means everything. Most want to bait sitting just above their nose . Seen them run if you jig it at all. No scents or special colors but holding it where they see an easy meal .
