First pic is with my godfather back in the early 80’s. Second is with my oldest brother. He was the fishing legend in our area for at least 50 years. I’m proud to keep the family legacy going.

Somewhere in my boxes of pictures I have one of my grandpa, who was born in 1906, when he was maybe 12 or 13 standing in the local river holding a stringer of smallmouth bass. I need to dig it out and share it.
Awesome pictures Guys, very good to see Crappie fishing is in the blood with y'all.
Rockin a Bourea game, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and a fishing hat. That’s the true pictures of the 1970s. That takes me back a while.

On the trip to Minnesota in 1974 I made the trip myself and took a Greyhound bus to Duluth, Minnesota where I was picked up by my dad's friends mom and aunt who had a summer home there complete with a two hole outhouse. I showered there in the front yard by water hose heated by the sun. Had to be quick, well water was really cold. Spent two weeks there, best time of my life at the time.
thanks for the pictures and ideas Jim. reminded me of the times I and my cousin would stay with my grandparents and I would go over to a cousins house where they had a pond with huge bass in it. Caught a bigun with my zebco 202 and a Gaddabout Gaddis lure I had sent away for. I have a pic somewhere of it and my grandpa grabbed it out of my hand and immediately fileted it and had it for dinner. They were so proud.

My Grandparents were my fishing mentors, and we spent a lot of time in those rental wooden row boats ... 10hp Johnson on the back ... fishing for Crappie !! :heart

Yea, that's me kycreek at 10 years old crappie fishing a tree top with my mom & dad in 1972. My parents & and an Aunt/Uncle (Dad's brother) started/owned/operated a small campground & bait shop here along the Ohio river where I still live today 50 years after this picture was taken. We had 3 johnboats at the time that were rented for 50cents a day. LOL I still own one of them.
Dad passed away from a heart attack about 2 months after this picture was taken making this one of my favorite old pics. The campground eventually was sold after his passing, but it is still in operation today.
I fished with that same uncle up until this past year when at the ripe old age of 89 it just isn't safe for him to be in the boat any longer. I'm so grateful that we have shared so many good memories together on the water. Talked to him last night and filled him in on yesterday's catch. He always want to hear every detail & is still mentally sharp. He still gets out occasionally with a family friend who has a pontoon. So, I'm thankful for that.
I surely wish Dad could have lived & been a part of our lives. Who knows how things would have turned out.
Take your kids fishing my friends. You just never know. You will never regret it.
