Finally found them!!

Took 3 tries, lots of casting and trolling, 25 different lures, jigs and baits but we finally found them.

Kept 11 total releasing 7 that were the size of my hand.
Latgest were just under 11 inches so a good size for this area... I think. Water is 57* fishing in 30 feet of water but the crappie were only down maybe 5 to 10 feet at most.

Had to pull out a beetle spin with an orange grub and troll the area until one hit. Then almost every pass we hit fish.

Whomever suggested trolling with the beetle spin some years ago it paid off!! Thank you!

The bandage is because I tried to slice the pad off the end of my thumb around 17 days ago.

What speed were you trolling the beetle spin? That’s something I’d like to try along with my regular jigs I pull at 1mph. Good work.

about 1mph, my buddy runs the boat and we were straight trolling or doing a stop and go when we were in the area they were hitting. Sometimes a hit on the drop, sometimes the rise, sometimes straight troll.
I think depth was a factor but I can't say for certain.

good job , you need to look in short water soon at them water temps , a jig under a float maybe , they should be hitting the bank soon , possibly around 3 to 6 foot of water depending on the clarity of the lake .
slow rolling a jig might be the ticket as well , pitch to the bank and slow roll it back to ya .....good luck

There was maybe 18 inches of visibility. Muddy brown which makes no sense for a lake that very little feeding it. Summer is turn into split pea soup. Was odd too that the perch have been nowhere to be found.

Rinse and repeat! Once you find them, stay on them as long as you can! Congrats.
