Awesome
So I was fishing with this gewber down here in Florida and am now doing things a little different.
Here's the gewber I'm talking about, Skeetbum:
Great guy, great fishermen, posts great stories here.
Anyway, he was over, and we fished out of my boat. He re-introduced me to finesse fishing. And now I've come up with a little bit a a new way to fish, at least for me. I've kinda done stuff like this before, but not exactly like this. So here is my "new to me" technique to fish here in Florida in the calm early mornings during these slower fishing "dog days".
I fish with three rods (BnM Rods). All three have different setups with different weight lures. One has a 1/8 ounce Road Runner, another has a 1/16 ounce PICO Bunny Butt, and the other has a 1/32 ounce Bobby Garland Itty Bitty. The 1/16 ounce jig is on a 14 ft. rod in a Driftmaster Rod Holder. My other shorter rod is set up with a small bobber and a 1/32 ounce jig on it which I toss up close to the downed trees next to the shoreline. And the 1/8 ounce Road Runner I toss at any surface splashes or other spots I deem worthy.
It's a neat way to fish when I am alone. I get bored easy and this technique keeps me entertained. I troll slowly down the shoreline, switching rods, tossing bobbers, and watching nature. I'll have to do a video about this, kinda cool. I'm sure there are others on here that do things similar. Please share.
What's cool about this technique is you can cover a lot of ground using a range of sized jigs all at the same time. Plus you never know what you're gonna catch. And isn't it all about the catching part, no matter the species. But Crappie still taste the best bar none. Look at him chomping his lips, he knows it too!
skeetbum thanked you for this post

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
3 way fishing? Thought maybe it was menage-a-trout! Great way to attack those fish and figure out what they want, where and when! Certainly some fine fishing companions too!
Cool now that being versitle. Ready for them scaled creatures.![]()

Thanks for the kudos boss. Glad to see you trying a different approach. It sure works for me. One more rod you might consider swapping into the mix now and then is another light rod for casting a 1/32 with a small curly tail. I use four colors and prefer one brand. Mister Twister is back in a lot of stores and their 2” has more action than any other. The colors are white, black, chartreuse and green pumpkin, which looks like a root beer brown. The curl tail lets you move it slower and keep it above the schmutz. The white ones are loved by schooling bass sometimes and they’re fun on light gear. But mostly, even if the fish run small the small gear ups the fun factor. I see I’ve done my job well and planted the seed that got you and kovu out today.
Great pics and story. Thanks for the ride along!
Bob
I typically carry several set ups myself, it’s an approach worthy of mention.
Sometimes the right rod in hand makes all the difference.
