Great story and the photos tell the tale. Thanks for the ride along!

Before you go looking for my recipe on this subject , read carefully , this isn't really about the way you go about prepping them for the consumption phase .
This post is about how to hammer crappie at certain times of the year with an understanding of the current situations in the water .
Shad "and most other fish too" spawned here a month or so ago , this in turn has about a ridiculous number of "fry" in the water currently .
Crappie relish picking off easy meals and gorge on them poor lil defenseless struggling to survive masses of lil thangs ....
So if you go to the water right now and pitch them big baits in hopes of creating a hammer time event , you might not be all that impressed with the results. Not saying you can't ketch them with big baits for sure , but if you want to REALLY be the hammer , you need to be "frying fish" currently in most spots in my part of the world.
We hit flats near drop offs and a little placed habitat as well , we made 4 stops in 3 hours and we flat out for sure hammered the pants right off them poor unsuspecting crappie.
Now is 3 limits of crappie and several bass ,catfish and bluegills a hammer festival with 3 guys in the boat in 3 hours you might ask ....
I would tend to say ,,,,,yep ,,,, not totally ridiculous , but to be sure , lots of bent rods and fish slinging was in the mix .
I opted for a float a bunch of the trip and set it about 5 foot deep and watched it with my Osprey eye from afar. They were totally committed to eating my "Fry" bait , but did not hammer it due to the ease of fry consumption.
6 fow to 14 fow , NO LS unit , just a cheap $100 graph and a 1/32 no paint white with a chart tail hand tie was DEADLY and the fish were mostly roaming under the "fry" . Sure was a fun trip , man did the guy in back lose a large number of slabs , this in turn really FOR SURE gives me some ammo to talk dat trash btw ....
on a quick side note , the fish had super steam going on and a big number of them took the air and in several cases multiple jumps ,,,,thought several were bass until they were right at the boat !
There ya go . KABOOM is the word btw .........
p.s the large channel cat did in fact scream my new little red riding hood set up for a good while and circled the boat twice and fouled up some equipment too ....by the time it hit the net , I had some cord wrapped up around my ankle to the point I bought went for a swim as I did the ballerina in the front of the boat ketchn poses ....
heck I dint even hold it and let my bud do that job for me and the lady at the gate when we went in asked me if I needed a fish regulations pamplet , I laughed and said nope , we will stop at 75 in the box I promise and she thunk I was bla bla bla ....

Does hammering them make them more tender?
