Hanr, I like the outlook. I have no friends from my earlier years, wasn’t in the service, most family doesn’t live close. My Granddaughter Camryn has fished with me for ten years now. She’s as good a hand in the boat as anyone can ask for. And the girl can flat catch fish. Most enjoyable memories. I’m glad to see you gather with your service buddies. It has to be a special time spent together. I look forward to our slabfests for the same reasons probably. Good friends doing what we like to do. I enjoy the social aspect of them. The fish are always a bonus.

I fish with others plenty. When I don’t have clients, I turn to my favorite fishing partner. My partner does not care what time we get up or what time we get home. She does tend to not be happy if we are not catching enough fish to suit her though! Name: IMG_5655.jpg

Enjoy getting out on the water to fish solo and with certain people. or.

p.s. But when fishing out of “Old Leaky”, my cypress rowboat, I much prefer a partner. One that is a really fast bailer. lol
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Very few folks fish like me. I use all UL gear and lines as light as 1.5# test. I may head out for crappie but if I find Spotted bass…bluegill….white bass…shell cracker, or Smallies first I ain’t going nowhere else to look for fish. If I head out looking for Spotted bass and find crappie before I find them I also ain’t moving. I’ll stay on whatever I find first all day if they are biting. A late nephew of mine and I would frequent a trout river full of big black nose crappie. But many times we would get into a lot of trout before we got into crappie. He leaned to just let me catch a bunch of trout then we would move literally 400 feet and load the boat with crappie. His brother would ask me to take him to Dale Hollow to fish for Smallies…and while that was the target many times shell cracker and big bluegill would be found first….and I’d spend the whole time catching them and would leave without getting the first Smallie. I’m all about the fun. My son is the only one I fish with that is happy to do this….he also is strictly an UL angler. So other than fishing with my son I will fish alone….and much prefer it.

    Regards

I’m solo in the boat for the vast majority of the year. Fishing is the best type of mental health therapy for me and I enjoy being alone with some tunes, a good cigar, and turning off my brain to fish. Don’t get me wrong, I love the group trips that my core group of crappie fishing buddies take annually, I wouldn’t trade those days for anything. But for me, it’s more about getting away from the stressors of everyday life, and focusing on what we are passionate about.

My dad was my fishing and hunting partner and best friend. He's been with the Lord 17 years. now it's my 2 sons who are better fisherman than me. But most of the time now I go alone. It is a release of stress for me. I enjoy the search as much as the catch.

Now that I’m retired and getting older , about 90% of my fishing is done alone .
I have a buddy i meet up with once a week at a reservoir that’s between us but the rest of my fishing is done nearby in ponds and a creek .
I still have my boat but it’s a lot easier to just grab my fishing stool and bank fish .

Prefer alone. Tourny fishing alone can be a task though. Really just wish I had someone to back me in, and go get the trailer when Im done, and someone reliable to net, weigh, cull, and care for fish in a tourny

Fish alone most of the time. Peace and quiet on the water, no hurry, enjoy God’s creation. Conversations with him off and on all day. And bring dinner home.
