I have a 18ft jon boat that rides like a 18ft jon boat, butt it looks "cool" in the water. TIN BOATS RULE!

I’m back into an aluminum boat for simplicity. I’ve owned a Carolina Skiff and an 18’ bass boat in the past. Hated the skiff and got wetter in that boat than any other I’ve ever owned. I’m also not a CC guy, prefer the side console of the bass boat. The wind factor is a thing too. With my bass boat I was always the last one to leave when the wind got up, all the tin boats were long gone. I also don’t do big waters much so the lighter metal boat does what I need. All the info given so far is spot on. As I age I feel my mobility change and getting around the console was an aggravating thing for me. I also felt it added to the sail area to catch the wind. Good luck with your search and the choice.

I own a 175txw and fish Kissimmee and the big O . The ride is smooth up to wind speed of 15 mph and I use a power pole . It gets very shallow and gets very good gas mileage along with the ease of loading and unloading and transporting it is like there is nothing there. But on the other hand if wind is 20 mph it is very ruff but I just don’t fish in that kind of wind speed . But over all I am very satisfied with the aluminum boat .

I couldn’t be happier with my G3 Eagle Talon 19 DLX. Rides well and is very stable for an aluminum boat, the pros far outweigh the cons. A trolling motor with spot lock and talons help fight the wind drift enough for me to be able to fish in nastier weather than most.

I fish aluminum . lighter= less motor (cheaper ) less trailer (cheaper ) less truck to pull (cheaper ). Cost less in most situations new or used (cheaper ) Does it get blown ? yes , ride as good ? no . Retired and do not fish when wind over 10 mph .

Fished yesterday until the gust were 30mph. Too bad my gas motor wouldn't start and I had to use the tm all the way back - and into the wind no less!!
I know not exactly what you’re looking at but I have a ‘02 Lund explorer 1675 (walleye style) with a ‘01 Yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke oil injection and 6hp kicker 4 stroke. It’s 18’ long and 7.5’ wide with tons of storage. It can get up to 36-37 mph with just me and gear but with 6 people and gear can still reach 30 mph (little longer in the hole). It sits about 16-18” in the water I do get pushed a little and Bimini top doesn’t help but doesn’t stop me from fishing but it rides great, Bama likes it lol.
I don’t notice much difference in glass boat since I mainly troll anyways
