    Default Trolling Battery Input

Hey guys. Me again. Quick question; so I recently had open heart surgery back in Nov. I have a group 29. I want to go trolling again long lining but I can’t work with this 29 any longer. Would a group 24 work? Says 110 amp hours. 30 lb minnkota trolling motor

I'm skeptical, FC .... but, why are you not able to cope with the 29series battery ??

If it's because of the battery's weight, I'd suggest going Lithium if you can afford it.

I had open heart surgery. Only been 4 months. I can’t dead lift a 29. Too heavy. I tried the 24’s and I can manage those. I rent boats at places and troll with my 30lb trolling motor. Just curious how long a 24 will last. My 29 would go all day.

I know what you mean ... I'm 74 w/COPD and live in an apt complex (2nd floor) & have to carry my 3 batteries down/up the steps and into the truck, then out of the truck & into the boat. That's two 29's & a 24 ... and I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep doing this. I have to bring them back in to the apt. to charge them.
I run a 42# thrust TM & my 29 will run a good long while, unless I'm Pushing (trolling) all day ... then I might have to switch out the TM battery with the battery I use to run my Livescope setup.

That's kinda why I suggested a Lithium battery. (& I'm thinking about them, myself)

    Ionic lithium battery.

I’m looking at the Epoch 24v 100AH! The review that a guy did tearing it down to see how it was made, is unreal! At $1000, it would be the last TM battery I would need for quite some time.

    Good luck in your search.

First, from another bypass survivor, God bless and speed your recovery. Mine is coming up on 5 years.

No good options but a 24 will last a while and then you’ll have to head home. It’s just what we get. Beats not going at all. Hang onto the 29 for next year.

Lithium are considerably lighter in weight. They are pricey though

Maybe a pair of 24's rigged together. Or maybe a packable dolley like the package delivers use to transport the battery.

I have a dolley but picking it up to put it in the car and boat is too much. I'll hold on to it though. It's a great battery and I keep it on a trickle charge. A buddy of mine had a 24 that I used and we trolled for a good 4-5 hours on speed 1. It was super light. I run my fish finder 9" Garmin on a Miller Tech Lithium Deep Cycle 20AH. Funny because I hooked my trolling motor to it and it instantly lost all power.

Thank you for the kind words. My recovery is going great. I was back home within 3 days from UAB. Hardest part was sleeping on that wedge and getting up to use the restroom at 1AM. Oh, and the no salt diet was crap! I am on Cumadin because I got the mechanical valve put in, so I have to get my INR checked every 2 weeks. My fiance was there every hour for 1 week in the hospital and helped me shower and helped me out the bed at 1-2 am daily. I wouldn't have made it without her help for sure. I've been 1 time back out on the water, but I just couldn't do that battery. I had to have someone meet me there with a battery. Still a blessing to be alive. Looks like I'll miss the spring bites. When I'm off it's super windy or storming. Maybe one day I can get back under those bridges at Big G and catch my trophy. My biggest is 16.5"!
