Well what I do take I try to keep organized and contained in my canoe. But I am totally disorganized about deciding what I need and want to take with me. I try to keep it to a minimum. But just about every time I get on the water I discover something I forgot. And by the end of the day there is always stuff that I scratch my head and wonder why I brought it.
I always take too much. But it doesn't live on the deck. I do carry way too many rods though. The problem is, I just can't decide on a favorite.
I forgot to show you the only 41 lures I carry in my pocket. If I lose these I go home and make more. One side is Wax Worm lures for Bluegill, Redear and Perch. The other side is jigs for Crappie. The embroidery thread on my lures is to hold SLAB SAUCE.

Nice lure BTW! Good thing most of them are stored at home. Right?
If you do any night fishing, neat and organized is essential. If not, things can turn into a total cluster real fast.
Everything is in our boat all summer, extra stuff would be live bait, ice cooler, and what ever the wife brings.
When we night fish trolling walleyes and I agree with bugtussle, the dance floor needs to be nice and neat.
A few things I havent read that I bring along on every trip...
