Well said Lee. Good on you for passing along your craft. Not many folks now that want to be in the trades
I started my fishing career walking to river with my Dad at 6 years old. We would stop on a back alley dig worms where people threw there slop out. We would tote a fly rod a piece a fishing basket which I would proudly tote on the way there because I couldn’t tote it home without dragging in the dirt on the home full of bream. Shell cracker and bluegill. Since Graduating high school and starting a career in HVAC I’ve had six lake homes and numerous boats and trucks. Ived pulled a 21’ skeeter bay with an F450 4x4 , my neighbor fished out of a Jon boat and told me he was catching the fish I was running by at 50 mph. Lol. There was a lot of truths in my old friends sayings. He told me once most people were broke on a different level. No matter what you make you manage to spend it. I’ve figured out I resemble that remark due to being a consumer. But getting back on point. I’ve fished off my pier utilizing the green lights I had in 30’ deep water. Catching as many as 75 in one night never leaving my pier with three people granted. But I find I have as much joy pond fishing as setting on pier of a million dollar lake house. I’ve closed my business and teach inmates HVAC now. What a blessing it’s brought me full circle back to my roots.I’m appreciative of simple things again. I’ve caught 75 fish this week pond fishing. Guess I rambled on to say. Enjoy the simple things the Good Lord puts in your life. Friends, family and fishing are a good start. Whether your bank fishing, pulling with a 150-200 setup or fishing from your pier on a lake be respectful of your fellow man and fisherman. I’ve walked out on my pier with cups of coffee to give tournament fishermen and pointed out my structure location many mornings. Ok time for work Rant over. Enjoy your day while I shape minds and work on helping these guys make a life outside of prison. I’ll leave you with a cooler pic from pond fishing this week. 39 feeshes.

sounds like we are all similar in the circling thing, there was a time I had to travel and ketch fisheez all over the place and spent a few greenbacks doing so , dragging boats to and fro and etc.
off in foreign countries and so far off the path in some that it amazes me I came back. scary little tiny plane short trips that I figured would likely be my demise in spots I knew were not charted out. runways so short I often thought it was over before it began.
Big bears literally chasing us in one spot, with no heavy arms to stop them, crocs that looked big enough to eat cows at another and a boat 200 miles off shore with one motor failing .....did we ketch fish on those trips you might ask , yes to beat the band for sure , one fella asked me how long I lived at one spot, due to the hammering the fish were getting from me and I said heck sir I am from Texas , never been here before and then ,,,,
here I sit , thinking about my next visit to some spot on the bank or the dock to ketch me a few crappie , go figure ....
nice read sir , brung back a memory or 3 ....
Good read to start my day! Thanks much….

Enjoyed the read this morning. As I struggle toward a long delayed retirement, after many wasted years of not fishing, I wanted to get back to my own roots. I mentioned to my wife and daughter I wanted to find a little tinny like my dad and granddad had when I was a yung'un. Next thing I know my daughter buys me a 1967 alumacraft. Now every time I go out I remember the good times I had with my dad and grandfather. Sometimes we get caught up in "having" and forget what we have "had". God bless all the folk here who helps us remember and appreciate the "had" and thankful for what we "have now".
Had wildcard at school today. That’s where we get to feed the inmates/ students . No picks. Cellular devices not allowed behind gates. Feed them garlic bakes potatoes covered in butter, sour cream , cheese and pulled pork. Baked beans. Cheese cake and peach cobbler to top it off. Played dominoes and corn hole all afternoon. Only get to do this once a year. They are super appreciative and thankful . One told me I would be blessed for looking out for them. I told him they weee my blessing getting to teach somebody that was attentive and cared about learning. Good day indeed. To blessed to be stressed!!!!!
Good on you. Should like some mighty fine groceries for sure.
