    Default What's Your Favorite Line?

Been wanting to switch line to something stronger. I've tried several braids for livescoping with 13 foot and longer rods. I just don't like how braid doesn't fall back thru the eyes well when I pull back to pitch. What's your favorite line? Braid, mono, flouro? Line size, color, brand, ect.

I’ve gone to big braid to solve the problems you speak of. Most of y’all probably laugh that I use it,
but 65 lb hi vis braid will zip thru the eyes pitching with the long poles. I tie a mono leader using the Alberto knot ( usually 10 lb ) fishing stained water.

I'm using the same 6# test Vicious Panfish Copolymer hi-vis line on my Livescope sniping/flipping rods (12' & 8') that I use on my regular casting rods.

I use 8# clear mono of various brands on my rods. I’ve tried several braids and I’m not sure I like them.

Braid. I haven't found much of a difference between brands. Always white or chart, green is too hard to see. Fireline has a little more memory than regular braid and I prefer it.

I used Crappie Maxx mono for a while and liked it, have also used Vicious and Berkley. It's all good. I have always considered mono to be very disposable, only good for a couple months. Once it is no longer slick and glossy, it's time to respool. One of the big reasons I prefer braid, it will last practically forever.

I was not a big fan of Nanofil or the lighter flourocarbons. Knot tying was difficult with both of them.

For me it depends on how I am fishing. For mono I like 6lb Sufix in tangerine orange.

The first thing that came to my mind was: "Do you come here often?" . But then I realized he was asking about fishing line. For that I use Golden Stren 2#.

Kind of depends on what reels you are running. I fished braid a long time but like you the lack of smoothness always bothered me. I use 8lb Sunline fluorocarbon on 2500 size spinning reels most of the time now on 12’ rods. Smoother and less tip wrapping. I use 12-15lb Sunline fluorocarbon on longer rods with baitcasters.
