    Default East Wind Woes?

Ever heard the old saying, "Wind out of the East fish bite the least"? I personally have seen this happen over and over on the lake I fish most. I know that there are pressure related reasons for this but I guess it is what gives me the most trouble. I think it makes crappie hold real tight to cover and a very close, dead still presentation is usually what I have to try.
What's your thoughts and ideas on fishing East winds?

Learned this from my grandfather many years ago and yes the bite does seem slower with an easterly wind. I’m sure someone on here knows far more about east winds and pressure than I do, but explaining it doesn’t change the fact that fish seem to be more difficult to come by on those days, but it doesn’t occur often and still the worst day fishing is better than the best day working.

I’ve heard the saying but never given much thought into it.

fishing here in Georgia for the past 3 days, east wind 10-15 and gust higher, can usually find a place a little out of the wind, but that old saying still continues, can find the fish on the depth finder but making them bite is another thing, move to another place you find that’s sheltered out of some of the wind to find the same thing, fish is there, but it’s hard to get bites. In the wind it’s hard even going against the wind to slowdown enough to catch them, but yesterday we caught about maybe 15 crappie and 1 30 pound flathead catfish, ate some of him last night, so yea I believe in that old saying it has made me a believer more than once.

My Grandad used to say that too and he was a rancher. But he also used to say that the fish would bite better when his rods were bent as well! Lol

I'm thinking that if the weather continues the way it's been lately (around here), the Dogwood trees will be blooming before the lake water temps get anywhere near spawning temps range. Then again, they might well bloom and then have their blooms frozen off within the same week.
