    Default Reel Question

I am trying to buy a reel that’s under $40 that would pair well with this rod. It is a Wally Marshall pro series’s rod, 7 foot rod. I have not been able to find d a reel that has a bigger spool. Thanks

I’m going to ask the stupid question, why do you need a larger spool! I use the smaller 10-20 series reels on all of my rods! No sense in having a large spool reel for crappie, in my opinion. The only exception, in my opinion, is if you are long line trolling.

Wally Marshall has small 20 series reels he puts on his combos.
Not sure if you can buy them separately.
Get a Pflueger President 20 series.
About 59 bucks and it will probably outlast the rod. You can use it on the next rod you get.

I am wanting to try braid for the first time. I also have two sons that will be using it. They have little to no experience.

My next reel will be another shimano sienna 2500. Can't beat the price.

I love the presidents. Great reels. Trying to stay at $40 or less due to my sons learning how to throw spinning reels i also uses his 20 series reels. Not bad.

Quantum Optix are really nice. Smooth winding and smooth drag. They were @ $20 a year or two ago, probably $30 now.

I would go with Shimano Sienna myself. It is a good reel for under $40.
