I am wanting to try braid for the first time. I also have two sons that will be using it. They have little to no experience.

Use cheap mono to fill the spool most of the way, and fill the last 60-80 yards with braid. It'll last forever so there's really no need in having a full spool of it. The mono will also solve the problem of braid slipping around the spool.

This is exactly what I do. If your gonna go all braid wrap a few layers of electrical tape around your spool to avoid the braid from slipping around the spool.

I used Sienna's for years. Good reel. Braid is an absolute nightmare for beginners. I will constantly be wrapped around the tip of the rod.
