Yep it was tough but in hindsight we should have fought the wind & stayed put in our first stop. Caught 3 nice ones pretty quick roaming open water following Shad. We moved a couple times & caught another 2 & had 4 more bites we never hooked up on.

they tend to move sort of quickly sometimes in cold water roaming mode , if you can find the travel path they are using and observe the depths they are traveling ,you can sometimes sit still and dangle baits over the side at the right depth and patiently wait for a school to go by ...can be really productive at times

I have a buddy that does that especially in warmer weather & catches a lot of fish doing it too.

Les if you was fishing where i think you was. I had a day like that and I only found (when the water had came up like it has now) fish laying on the bottom at drops in 25 to 30 fow and way up the creek in 7 fow and less.

I went up pitman first & caught 3 in open water right above bottom. Left & went main lake & it was muddy & bad windy. Then went where you're thinking but never went past the bend. Should have stayed in pitman i guess. One thing about it though i'm getting plenty of trees & brush marked. lol I'll probably go mid lake or further down this weekend.
