the reason I asked is I have a 225 Mercury Opti. I emailed Mercury to ask about using lithium battery to crank motor. Mercury's response: "Lithium Batteries contain a Battery Management System (BMS) that protects the battery against thermal and over/under charging events. This could cause the BMS to remove battery voltage to the engine while underway, posing a safety hazard while causing possible damage to the engine's electrical system. We do NOT recommend using lithium batteries with ANY mercury outboard due to these circumstances." The response is dated Jan. 25, 2022.

Special lithium cranking batteries have different BMS settings so the battery does not shut off due to over current, and will not harm your charging system. Ionic 125Ah is one.

I just installed Impulse Lithium batteries. They're a new sponsor for crappie.com. They have a deal going on for them for us as well. I love them. I don't fish super long but I've never had them run under 80%. 18ft fiberglass boat with terrova 24/80.

I'll have more details and reviews going forward but I thought I'd post a quick note.

The goofy thing is, I love the app. Tells you everything. Discharge rate, remaining battery. I'm having fun turning things on and off to see what they draw. See, I also have two Garmins powered by them. More to come ...

I'm sure I would love them as well. If I knew unequivocally that the lithium batteries would not damage motor or electrical systems, I would buy today. Not sure why Mercury would mislead you over a battery. I don't know if they are in the battery business or not. They also issued a bulletin in regard to using this type of battery. Mercury has great customer service so I will query them again today and advise. I appreciate all the responses, thanks.

Been looking just haven't yet. I can't justify the cost in my head just to say I had 70% of my batteries left at the end of the day.

The weight loss might be good but actually heard the way bass boats are set up when you loose weight in the rear you actually loose speed, not that I need that either.

I will check with him but most likely wait until my current ones or gone. Thanks again!
