    Default Weighted slip floats....

...when to use? Found a couple in my tackle bag. These are about the thickness of a pencil, bass pro product I believe. I assume you use them when the bait is too light to keep the float straight up and down. Makes me think of a trout magnet for panfish. But, wouldn't this negate detecting a fish coming from below and taking the bait, like a crappie feeding up? I would think the float would remain up right instead of falling over. They have been in my bag for a couple of years but I just noticed yesterday there is an O ring that keeps the lead weight on the float, so I can remove it for heavier baits. Quick aren't I.

Weighted floats are for when you need to cast a long ways. Use one size bigger than you normally would, or one size smaller split shot/jig to account for the extra weight and to make sure it slips properly and does not overweight the bobber.

They have zero use in crappie fishing beyond that, and are a hindrance in most every crappie fishing scenario IMO
