I just remembered catching a bluegill on a piece of lettuce from a McDonald's McChicken sandwich years ago. Im not sure what i put it on, but i think it was just a 1/32 head

While doing research on one of my new favorite hobbies, i learned one of the popular "flies" currently is a mop fly. It is made by tying one of those worm like strands off a mop onto a hook. It is actually banned from competition fishing because it works so good.

I always believed scent was the biggest attraction with fish growing up,,,,for years I wouldn’t go fishing unless I had some bacon to tip my lures with,,,,it always brought home the fish….

The eyes have it sorta speak . Big eyes usually means sight feeder and tiny eyes like those on Catfish lean more to scent feeders . Crappie primary way to find a bait is sight and second most likely lateral line . But if scents gives you confidence then go for it .

white crappie were designed by mother nature to be simply deadly predators on small things in really turbid waters , they employ all 3 senses to locate prey, sight is for the close range acquisition ,lateral line is for a bit further out and the sense of smell is somewhere in the middle of it all best I can tell .
I tend to think scent seals the deal if they "hear" it and or see it as well , kinda like the smell of bacon cooking when you first wake up , hard to resist that dont ya know ....
