Crappie fishing careers!?

I actually do have a background in sales and marketing. I think I’m going to dive in all the way and possible start a YouTube channel. I’ll just keep it original and not expect much. If it takes off then great! Thanks for the reply btw

I'd say it would be a matter of matching your skill set to a position.

Are you a maker? There are endless opportunities in graph/sonar mounts, boat accessories, rod racks, new baits, you name it. Find a problem and solve it, or improve something that already exists.

Good with people/networking? Sales and marketing may be advantageous for you.

Do you enjoy working with tech, editing videos, and stuff? Youtube may be your niche.

I’ve been a traveling road warrior in sales and marketing for over 25 years and I will tell you a truth about it. If you go into a certain field of work that relates to your hobby or passion that you love and you work at the way, it needs to be worked to make a living, be prepared not to enjoy your passion as much as you used to. When you have to work the trade shows on the weekends when everybody else is fishing or you have to work (setup, tear down, and be “ON” for 8-10 hours) the tournament trade shows living out of a suitcase and hotel, and travel around away from your family, it becomes work instead of a passion. Then when it becomes that type of lifestyle, you can lose interest in a hurry. I’m not trying to discourage you from your dream of wanting to do something like that, but there is a reality of behind the scenes that most people never see. If you’re young and not tied down with a family, I would say go for it and try to live your dream while you can. Personally, I use my fishing days to get away from work and enjoy the time to quiet my mind. Good luck.

I'man old road warrior as well. Several hundred thousands miles and many many hours of windshield time.Many years in rep business. Used to work with rep groups and for OP this might be a good way for you to learn. I own a small agency and work in the Southeast.

If you just want to be in fishing and especially just crappie business I wish you luck. Fishing industry as a whole is much smaller than most fishermen think it is and making a living is hard work and can be discouraging . Takes time to develop relations with dealers and distributors.

I think if you want to focus on crappie businesses you would want to either become a manufacturer or work for one as sales manger or director of sales and marketing.

I'd give this a lot of thought before I quit my present job.

It's a VERY long line a day has been a good while , it grows daily....
Some of the best anglers I know do NOT do it for money....
Might ruin your passion...
