Default ???? For those pulling with a pontoon

What size tm are you using? 24 or 36. I plan to retire in 9 years. I’m getting ready to buy my final crappie rig. I’m down to either a sun tracker 22’ fishing barge. Xp3. Or a g3 ccj 20 dlx. I’m comparing fully rigged prices. How do you guys like fishing from pontoons or Tritoons. I like the comforts of a tritoon but a jet boat would fish rivers better. I have three local rivers. And the recreation traffic is not near as bad there. We are fighting unreal pressure on Martin. From rec boats. So the rivers have appeal.

I had a 22' fishin barge that came new with a 12V. That kinda worked as long as the wind was less than 10mph. Upgraded to a 24v 80lb and it was great but the wind would turn the boat so fast even while facing it. If the wind caused need for a 36v I think it would spin circles with spotlock. I think the pontoon scared fish but I used it for 5 years until I traded in on a new tracker 175. As far as a family boat it was the best but really slow. I too live near Martin in Elmore county and fish all the rivers because of that pressure and the traffic. If I was buying my final crappie rig I would get the widest boat I could. Maybe a tracker grizzly 2072 or if I won the lotto a ranger rb200

The CCJ 20 has a beam of 97" . Floor is 72" I believe. That's why I was looking at this particular boat was the stability. I've owned a 18/60 jet G3 before. Didn't like stability of it. I've also fished a tracker 2072 Grizzly it's a very stable platform. I really like the thought of a jet for river fishing.

The CCJ 20 looks like a premium stable boat. I think boat biuders will soon start biulding aluminium boats that do not have the classic bullet shape since the man in the back wants to fish in the front. 36" of forward working space for 2 is not enough even though thats what I have. If a biulder would take the 2072 hull and put the ccj 20 layout in it that would be the prefect boat for forward seeing sonar and I would seriously consider buying that. With GPS and mapping the jet drive is not as popular as it once was. Especially on the Coosa river where I live. Moccasin gap has large prop boats running it now. The secret routes are well known everywhere. I looked into jet drive back in the 90's. Even rode in a 90hp and 115hp. They were jerky to get good response at low speed and very slow. Maybe they are better now, IDK.

I have 24v on my pontoon. If I had to do it over I’d go 36v

BAMA S have you ever fished the the lower tallassee public ramp? I didnt even know it was there until a Al. power employee asked me to drive his truck trailer back from dropping his family off at this unmarked place and they where picked up down river on Hwy 231 on a 2 day trip. It looked like private property behind ASE Indusries on Hwy 229. No signs anywhere but if you zoom in on google earth it says " Lower Tallasse Public Boat Ramp. The slabs there act like pond slabs, they dont spook like lake slabs
