Whiskeytrain, I used the Bubba for the complete process. And I went with the non-pro version since it was on sale for around $130. It did everything I asked of it.

Go to Walmart and buy the Black and Decker electric knife in the cooking section. No joke. It used to be $14 until the great inflation kicked in. I think its close to $20 now. I have tried most of the knives out there over the last 30 years and the B&D stays sharper than any of them.

All of them are pretty good. I don't clean enough to justify a Bubba, I had the Black and Decker which worked fine, I now have the corded Bass Pro XPS model and it works fine as well.

I also tried the blade that you put in a Milwaukee Hackzall and found it to be worthless for crappie.

Bubba is piece of junk. Scales locked blades down had to stop and wash off every 3 or 4 fish. Go to bass pro and get a Mister Twister with 7 '' blades Had mine 7 years still going just buy new blades every year.

I've had a 110v Mr Twister Piranha Saltwater Version for a number of years. It doesn't get hot like a lot of electric fillet knives when you are cleaning a lot of fish one right after another.

I have the corded Bubba and it's never let me down. I bought it shortly after Bubba released their electric knives. Back then there were a number of issues with the cordless version. It seems that Bubba has corrected those issues and if i was buying another knife i'd go with the Bubba Lithium.

    Just my $0.02

When I'm cutting enough fish for my cheap electric knives to get hot, like catfish, I'll use 2 knives and just swap them out every other fish. When you buy the cheap ones you can afford to have a couple of them. Lol Probably got 10 electric knives floating around the house, camper, shop, boat.

My kiddos (with wife's help) walked out the day after Christmas with one for me for $100, as it was mismarked. They had the WHOLE rack loaded in the wrong place and they honored the price. But, their "regular" price (the right rack) was $169. This was at Academy Sports.
