Do you think eyes really make a difference to the fish?

And more importantly, are you going to start the New Year off right by going fishing today?

My grandfather always worked on New Year's day, telling me that what you did on New Year's day is what you will be doing for the rest of the year.

I've always taken his once I become an adult. I"ve made sure I spend at least a couple of hour fishing every New Year's day. If it's not too windy I will take the boat out to fish the submerged trees shown on the map. If it is too windy I will fish the piers. But I will wet a hook today, and if the crappie gods smile upon me, I will catch a few.

I'm not sure of the size jig since I have several custom chub molds that were made by Robert Howell of Crazy Angler Tackle in 2010 as well as some custom pill heads and other molds. Jig hanging from the crappie lips is an opossum hair jig, one of my favorite tying materials. I painted all of the jigs using paints I mix myself. Typically use about four colors of paint on one jig. Nice catchin Ketchn.
