Livescope pole

Anyone out there ever though a square tube aluminum pole about 1 inch for stability for livescope? Been looking for a simple solution to make a pole for my livescope, but don’t really want to use pvc, because I don’t think it’s stable enough. What do you folks think?

Square tubing would make it difficult to mount the transducer and rotate the unit I would think.

If you use the thicker pvc I would think that would be stable enough. More important is how it's mounted for stability.

Was thinking about putting the regular transducer on trolling motor, and somehow making a livescope pole, just want it rigid enough.

Schedule 40 PVC is plenty strong enough for the pole. Some mount on the trolling motor but, be aware of the danger of damage to the LVS transducer cable on spot lock motor. There are several Youtube videos that have great advice on transducer poles and ideals on mounting and building them. They can also be painted if you do not like the white PVC.

Haven't put it on the water yet but I used 1 inch pvc inside 1 1/4 inch PVC and it is sturdier than you would think

I haven’t had the least bit of trouble with my pole made from pvc. I also have the IMS perspective mode mount that Iasacc sales on bass boat central. I did put a bench mount bicycle repair stand on the deck to hold the pvc pole & if you don’t over do the tightnesses it can move back away from a standing tree that you may not see under the water. I like it myself. However a person could make a pole out of aluminium tubing with something to hold an aluminum shaft running down through the center that would let it turn whatever direction you wanted to view. I’d be afraid if it didn’t give like mine does that it would break the transducer bracket if you hit a submerged tree. They do make some nice pole mounts that may suit you better than a diy mount.

Yep I painted mine flat black.
