You do not want the pole to ridged . I moved mine from the Seelite system (very good open water )to the trolloing motor shaft .Hard to dodge stumps/snags with transducer pole and trolling motor shaft . I had rather the shaft to bend than break bracket . jmo.

I made one out of PVC but never mounted it. I put mines on the trolling motor only because I have a handheld unit and with a foot switch. I can scan with the motor off and hit the foot switch if I need to move.

Mine is 1 inch pvc zip tied to a ram mount for a fishfinder. Works well, but is not as good as a seelite system. I really like the seelite on my friends boat, but they are over $300. My pvc one was less than $10. I have had to rebuild it once in two years of fishing every week.

Personally, I don’t like trolling motor mount because you might want to point the livescope in a direction other than where you are pointing the trolling motor. If using spot lock, it would make the livescope practically unusable. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

I would agree that mounting it on a trolling motor with spot lock would be useless. I would not want one mounted on foot control trolling motor either.

    Danny,
I chose the Fishing Specialties Bowducer was the direction I went when the choice was to build or buy. It’s pricey for what it is but it well made, solid, and very simple to drop in the cradle on the side of gunrail. Multiple choices available by them for mounting options. If you still prefer to build, I believe you can buy the cradle for the boatand the tapered cone that is on their pole as parts from them.

My buddy who thought i was messing up by going with the diy pvc pole mount just gave $700.00 for the rite hite turret because he said livescope sucks in the wind on the trolling motor. I tried to tell him when he mounted it on the trolling motor that he'd be switching. I do like the fishing specialties mount too.

I started with a homemade pvc pole and it was ok but then switched to a fishing specialties pole and it’s 100x better. In my opinion to fully maximize the livescope spend money on the pole or just put it on your trolling motor

Yes hooking it to the trolling motor is fine, actually the best way, as long as your trolling motor isn’t one of the older, slow turning electric steer trolling motors like a Terrova or Ultera. Or if you are going to fish from spot lock then that pretty much limits you to a pole.

If you go to any big crappie tournament almost 100 percent of people that are actually competitive run the transducer on the trolling motor and nobody fishes from spot lock. Most people would be a lot better off taking the money they are spending on bigger head units and poles and booking a trip or two with someone reputable to learn how to control the boat.
