That is a beautiful set
With you all talking about knives, I thought I would show you a set left to me by my father before his passing years ago! I remember the day he bought this set.
It was a display at a lumber company that sold knives behind the counter! If you read the label, it states “sample”!
I’ve been offered 5k for it, but can’t seem to let it go.

I have carried a Kershaw Leek for many years. The latest one is a composite blade. They make for a very nice every day carry knife.

Back when I was researching and deciding what my latest edc pocket knife would be I went with the Kershaw Link if I remember correctly. The main deciding factor was it’s actually Made in USA.
Also the other knife which had the good steel wasn’t available….lol.
I too have my grandfather and dads knives they carried everywhere everyday. Valuable to me with many memories with each.

I have carried a kershaw leek for over 20 years, after my neighbor got his jacket caught in the pto of his hay baler and was able to use one to cut himself free, pretty beat up, a few days in the hospital but still here. I always have the assisted opening knife on me, and has come in handy. Made in USA on the blade

Some real nice choices there. Probably consider budget for the gift and go from there.

I’ve been carrying an Ontario RAT-II for several years for my edc. It’s a decent budget knife, certainly not a prized collectible to hand down to the grandkids, but works well for an edc to beat up. The AUS-8 steel takes an edge relatively easily and holds an edge relatively well too. Requires a bit more touching up than a nicer knife with better steel, but again works well for an edc to beat up. Someday I’ll splurge for a nicer knife or two to pass along to the grandkids. Good luck in your search
